NOZZOLIO SECURES $10,000 FOR AECC YOUTH BASEBALL FIELDS IN NEWARK

Newark – Continuing his long-standing commitment to support local youth sports as a means to keep kids safe and healthy during the summer months, State Senator Michael F. Nozzolio today announced he has secured a $10,000 state investment for the Alex Eligh Community Center for the renovation of the AECC youth baseball fields. Senator Nozzolio announced the funding today at the baseball fields on Hoffman Street in Newark.

“It has always been my strong belief that athletics play an integral role in shaping the lives of our youth, helping to instill in them the values of hard work, commitment, perseverance and teamwork,” said Senator Nozzolio. “The values that the young members learn on the field are values they will carry with them for the rest of their lives.”

Over 275 children in Newark play baseball in a twelve team league at the AECC youth baseball fields. The $10,000 state investment will be used to renovate the concession stand and storage shed.

Michael Muscolino, Executive Director of the Alex Eligh Community Center said, “On behalf of the many children who use these ball fields, I would like to thank Senator Nozzolio for working to secure this state funding. Providing our kids with fun and safe recreational opportunities is always a wise investment. With this state funding, we hope to have the project ready by the start of next year’s baseball season.”

The Alex Eligh Community Center is a non-profit community organization incorporated in 1941. The Community Center serves the recreational needs of the student and adult community in Village of Newark and the Town of Arcadia. The Community Center operates one of the most successful local recreational programs in western New York, including the AECC youth baseball fields on Hoffman Street.
